Some Research

Through some searching I have found this site < http://www.rhinoconservation.org > which is helping me understand a lot more about the situation going on between the poachers, rhinos and consumers of the horn.

A more specific address is < http://www.rhinoconservation.org/2011/01/21/another-south-african-veterinarian-charged-with-rhino-horn-crimes/ > which is a very interesting post to find out who the consumers are and what prices they are paying etc.
Disgusting sight of a dead de-horned rhino
being examined by a park ranger.
"Although rhino poachers are said to earn as much as R25,000 per kilogram... In Vietnam, rhino horn could easily command USD $40, 000 per kilogram. The price climbs even higher in China, to around USD $60, 000 per kilogram."

Another interesting thing spotted on this page was that with so many Chinese people immigrating to South Africa,  the demand has increased even further both as traditional medicine and for weaponry purposes in making dagger handles.
